Rensselaer County restaurant Tammy’s Candy Kettle, located in Hoosick Falls at 5154 State Route 7, “knocked it out of the park” on a recent visit by Joseph Nuccio, reads his post in the Facebook group 518 Restaurants.
“I really don’t think there’s a better cheeseburger in the 518,” Nuccio said. “I’m not saying it’s the best, but I don’t know that there’s one better… I’ve had a lot of them.”
Carnivores will have no trouble getting their fill at Tammy’s, which serves up several styles of black angus burgers available in ½ pound portions all the way up to a whopping two pound burger, according to its website.
Adorning the menu is the Chasburger, described as “American as apple pie" and served with a choice of american, swiss, provolone, monterey jack, pepper jack, or cheddar cheese, and topped with lettuce and onion on a toasted roll.
Diners can also opt for a “taste of the Old West” with the BBQ Burger, angus beef charbroiled with the cooked-in flavor of hickory-smoked barbecue sauce and topped with melted cheddar cheese.
In addition to its impressive burger menu, Tammy’s Candy Kettle also serves up a variety of chicken and seafood dishes, along with hot and cold sandwiches, and hand-cut fries.
Those with a sweet tooth will appreciate the eatery’s handmade chocolates, lollipops, and fudge, as well as several flavors of old fashioned milkshakes.
Online reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising both the food and the service from the restaurant’s namesake owner, Tammy.
“Tammy was nothing but friendly and all around wonderful from the second we walked in until the second we left,” Ashley S., of Vermont, wrote on Yelp.
“The fries and burger were wonderful - some of the best we've had and certainly better than any chain burger.”
“The burgers were easily the most deliciously flavored juicy perfectly cooked patties we've ever tasted,” Damaris R., of New Jersey wrote.
“Hidden gem,” another reviewer wrote. “Delicious medium-rare burger formed and cooked to order with fresh, crisp lettuce, tomato, and onion. Hand-cut fries were perfect.
“Tammy and her husband Charlie were the perfect hosts. And we walked out with amazing homemade fudge and just made chocolate-chip cookies. What a treat!”
